Topic: Species list in Excel from recorder 6 checklist

Hope this isn't a daft question - I want to produce a species list in Excel from a particular checklist in R6 whether or not I have records in R6 - how do I do this?

It's not - and it's been asked before I believe. Not sure what to search for to find it though!

It needs an XML report, which I don't think has ever been done. What field do you want and if i have time I will have a go.  There is a complete list in Excel format  of all the Organisms (effectively all recommended taxa) available at www.Recorder6.info/AA1_1_Hierarchy.zip   which might help.

Thanks for fast response. I had a look at the link you provided but I can't see how to extract the information I want from that spreadsheet.

What I would like to be able to do is to select any checklist from the dropdown box in the Taxon Dictionary browser and produce a list of all species in the checklist (whether or not we have records for it) that I can drop into an Excel spreadsheet. The only field I need is Recommended Taxon Name..........

Re: Species list in Excel from recorder 6 checklist

Attached is an XML report designed to do this. It will list just taxa for species and below. If you want other levels it can easily be adapted. It runs as a quick report by right clicking on any taxa in the dictionary you want to use.  It is in the menu 'Dictionary'  I have included the attribute field and the list name. I haven't done any  testing other than that it works and produces what on the surface of it looks like valid results. .

It works perfectly. Many thanks Mike – that’s saved me hours and hours of work. Another example of the first class service we always get from our Recorder team.

Re: Species list in Excel from recorder 6 checklist

The LC_Dictionary_report is no longer working. This was installed in my Reports folder within R6 back in November and put to use. Since then all I have done is install a dictionary update to "2S". Would this cause a problem? I've come to use it today and I get the report "This report only works from the Taxon Dictionary" - any clues?

You should  only get this message  if you try to run it from Reports/Run. It only works as a quick report by right clicking on a taxa in a  taxon list. Is this no longer working ?
