Topic: Importing TVKs not recognised

Just been importing some Aquatic heteroptera data using the TVKs as the species name. Two of the keys however failed to match against any of the dictionaries despite the fact that both of these appear to be in the R6 system. Had to manually match these to get them imported.

NHMSYS0020309254 Gerris (Gerris) gibbifer
NHMSYS0020309294 Hebrus (Hebrusella) ruficeps

Any ideas why these wouldn't be found by the match 'all preferred lists' or when selecting individual lists to match against?

Re: Importing TVKs not recognised

I can't see anything in this keys which should cause a problem.  so can't immediately see what is causing the problem. I willl do some further tests and let you know.  With taxon version keys the list chosen when matching isn't relevant - you can use any list you like. Matching of TVK's just gets the preferred taxon_list item key for the Taxon_Version key. The TVK's are not stored for future use.

Re: Importing TVKs not recognised

Thanks Mike

I have since figured that the species list selected is irrelevant.

Further use of TVK importing also throws up the following queries in the Trichoptera records. None of the following match - in fact I can't seem to find any of these TVKs in the R6 'Taxon version' table at all - is that to be expected??

NHMSYS0020704765
NHMSYS0020704766
NHMSYS0020704791
NHMSYS0020704795
NHMSYS0020704804
NHMSYS0020704807
NHMSYS0020704808
NHMSYS0020704829
NHMSYS0020704831

I have dictionary updated to  v. 0000002H

They should  be there. I will try to work out when they went in which may help to identify what has happened.

Re: Importing TVKs not recognised

These went in a long time ago. Could be that open of the dictionary upgrades didn't work properly ata time when there was a problem with the Dictionary Upgrade kit.   Trying to go back and work out what has happened  is just not possible. The only practical way this can be fixed is for me to check your dictionary against the current NHM database and to provide you with an upgrade which brings everything into line. To do this I would need a copy of your database ( a backup would be fine). There is no charge for this and no need to stop using R6. All you get back is a standard dictionary upgrade file.
