Topic: Species common name lookup error

I have found a weird common name lookup error

Motacilla flava subsp. flava

In reports the "Recommended Common Name" is Blue-headed Wagtail as it should be, but in the Surveys, hierarchy it is being displayed as "Blue-Cheeked Bee-Eater" which is both blatently wrong, but also matching to a badly formed name (capitals after the hyphens)

Could some one investigate and correct, I'm guessing this is a Recorder problem rather than NHM species dictionary

Re: Species common name lookup error

We've got Blue-headed Wagtail in our hierachy here (ver 6.22.2.274, dictionary version 2E; records entered with Rec3 and BIRDS checklist).

Have you tried rebuilding indices?

Re: Species common name lookup error

Yes, I noticed the error before installing the latest round of Dictionary updates, so thought I'd better load these before reporting the error incase it was corrected by 2E, etc. - after rebuilding the indices the error was still there, we're on ver 6.22.2.273, dictionary version 2E.

I've done a little more investigation:
1) search for Blue-Cheeked Bee-Eater on the Rec3 list shows "Blue-Cheeked Bee-Eater  Motacilla flava subsp. flava" in the drop-down, selecting this reports no records (the bee-eater has not been found in Staffs)
2) On the Rec3 list ""Blue-Headed Wagtail  Motacilla flava subsp. flava" is also present and selecting this successfully reports our BHW records

So it looks like an error in the Recorder 3 checklist ... again!

Re: Species common name lookup error

I have confirmed it is an error in the Recorder 3 list!

There are two entries for Motacilla flava subsp. flava
1) is correctly under Motacilla flava
2) is a child taxon of Merops and there is no entry for Merops persicus
