Re: OS Map file installation

I am trying to install OS map files. Having followed all the instructions and received an unlock file from NBN, when I try to extract the tiles it fails and I get "Order reference is damaged or missing. No valid tiles found.". I've found lots of posts on OS Map file problems on the forum, but haven't found this one.

Is this connected to the problem I had before I moved my Map Files out of Program Files/Recorder 6 (as in my previous post? Do I have to do the same with the OS Maps Folder and edit the registry again?

Not sure about this one. Try running as Administrator.

No difference, same problem.
Mandy Henshall at NBN has no idea.

OK I seem to have got round this by loading the text file into a word processor, copying each line and using them as individual unlock codes to extract the maps one by one. Slow, but looks like it is working.

Re: OS Map file installation

Pleased you got around this. This is NBN software and we don't have access to the source code, so little we can do when unusual problems occur.  I suggest  you secure the .gsf files once you have the tiles loaded.as these can be used to load the maps without registering again.

Re: OS Map file installation

Hi,

This is a very old thread but I was struggling with the same issue as Richard Wright, but came up with a slightly faster method than inputting each code for each map tile. In the hope that it helps others I will note what I did below.

Open the SiteID*.txt unlock file as sent from the NBN - my computer automatically opens it in Notepad.

Once the file is open save it with another name - I added three x so the file name is SiteID*xxx.txt

Find the SiteID*xxx.txt file and right click the icon, chose Open with, and click on Wordpad.

Save the file in Wordpad.

Use this file in the Unlock Map Tiles process of the Map installer and the installer will read the file correctly!

That's just saved me copy and pasting across a huge number of codes by hand!
