Topic: Import failure after server and NBNData migration
Hi,
I did report this last week but deleted it, wanting to be sure it failed data importing on all attempts...
I’m trying to migrate the National Moth Recording Scheme database from a Windows Server 2003/SQL Server 2005 environment to a Winders Server 2008R2/SQL Server 2008 SP3 virtual server 64-bit environment and all attempts to-date to import data fail (I exclusively use ADO Connection as it is the most reliable).
I have successfully built Recorder 6 to v6.22 in the new environment. As needed, I have also successfully upgraded the dictionaries to 00000028 (and ran the usual 4 rebuild tasks) to create a spanking new and empty NBNData which I’ve backed up.
I then copied over from the SQL 2005 Server the NBNData files. NBNUser was enabled successfully and I was able to login to the database once SQL Server 2008 ‘recovered’ the database by which I suspect it means upgraded it the 2008 SQL table specification.
During my tests, all attempts to import just 21 records fail with “Error occurred transferring records for SQLSERVER_TAXON_{OCCURRENCE/DETERMINATION} into the main database. It does consistently write to the Survey Events and Sample tables.
I have tried rebuilding the dictionaries and have ran the Last Key Addin, none of which fixed the issue. I have also checked the NBNUser account and registry setting and all appears fine. To rub salt into the importing wounds, I successfully batch deleted a Survey with nearly 1 million records!
The same import failures occur if I restore from a BAK file to NBNData. The import does work with the newly-created NBNData; however, reimporting 16 million records into this isn’t an option!
Does anyone have any thoughts?
