Topic: New to Recorder..

Hello All,

I'm a new user to Recorder and have a few questions I'd be grateful if you could help to answer.

1. When I try to create a recording card I am told I do not have permission to save to the record card folder, any idea how to resolve this?
2. When trying to import data, the wizard takes me through all the steps and finishes saying the data is fine and ready to go, but the final stage fails and the data is not imported?
3. When I go onto 'Recorder 6 Help' though I am able to look through the contents no information appears on the right. Is there something else I need to install maybe?

Many thanks,

Georgina

Re: New to Recorder..

Please can you tell me how your system is set up. Is it standalone or network version and which version are you running ?  The first problem is  because you do not have permission to write to the folder where thw Rucksack etc.  are held. Permission issues may also explain the other problems.

Re: New to Recorder..

It's a network version that I with another colleague are beginning to set up to store the data for several nature reserves. Will I find this folder on Windows where the rest of the recorder documents are stored? and should I change the permissions from there?

Re: New to Recorder..

They will be on the Server in a folder called 'User Files', but exactly where may vary depending on who sey it up and when. On a server often  in a Folder call Recorder 6 so would be C:\Recorder 6\User Files in this case. You need to make sure youread/write permission on the User Files folder and sub folders.  Also  check that you have Admin permission in Recorder if you are importing data.  Let me know if  issues 2 and 3 remain.  Problem with help may be something Microsoft have done  which prevente help files running on the Server.  In thsi situation the best thing to do is to copy the help file to your local machine.
