Topic: Report Wizard unhandled error

Hi

I've been getting an exception number 4 error running the report wizard (see error report below) for certain rucksacks (it works fine with others).

Any ideas how I am supposed to debug this and work out which column(s) and records are causing the error?

I don't think there is a problem with the rucksacks themselves because I can use them in a report for a single survey without any errors, but when reporting against ALL surveys the report wizard crashes. So I'm guessing it's a data thing.  But with 199 surveys and over 1 million species records it's like looking for a needle in a hay stack.

I suspect this isn't a  Rucksack issues, but something to do with data in a specific field.  Do you have SQl Server Profiler avaialble on the system ? If so this might pinpoint the problem. Otherwise I would try removing one by one  the fields which are concatenated in some way.

No, I don't have SQl Server Profile as I've only got SQL Server Express.

I've been removing the fields and I think it is down to the "Obs Source" column.

I've run a query looking for Taxon_Occurrence_Sources where either the Source table entry is missing or the Reference table entry is missing.  I've found one Source (referenced by a Taxon_Occurrence_Source) that doesn't have a corresponding Reference entry, but adding that missing entry doesn't fix the error.

What else about the "Obs Source" could be causing the problem?  Is there a text length limit being exceeded somewhere (as the error message points to a truncation)?

Having discovered it was the "Obs Source" column I found a solution in <http://forums.nbn.org.uk/viewtopic.php?id=4564> that resolved the problem (at least it has fixed it on the first report I have run).
