Topic: Running two installations of Recorder 6 on one server.

Hi

We are trying to tidy up our Recorder 6 installations and we would like to be able to have a "live" and "test" version of Recorder 6 (networked version) on the same server, just with different named SQL instances.

I have installed the Recorder 6 Server side software twice (one for "Live" and one for "Test"), on different partitions of the server.  With the two SQL instances together on a different partition on the same server.  Whilst the installation seemed OK, and the workstation installations worked fine I get an error now when I run either version - the error only occurs when tags are applied (see error file attached).

I have placed this question in the "How to..." section as I would value other peoples opinions on how the above could be achieved better.

Thanks

Stuart

This shouldn't be a problem as long as a workstation only accesses one on the instances. If you want a workstation to have access to two different instances then you need to have mechanism for swaping the registry entries. I suspect the problem you are having is something to do with registry entries. If you can attach the error file I will investigate.

Nothing obvious. When exactly does the error appear ?

It happens after I select the "Organise Survey by Tag" tick box in the options window. - When I try and view observations I get the error.

Is there a possibility that your database(s) has got out of step with the software ?

Yes - of course - the database I copied over that had been restored was 6.18 but the application was 6.17!!  All works fine now.

Sorry and thank you!
