Topic: Species-list performance

A simple REST query to obtain a species list for a tetrad within the datasets that we have uploaded, i.e.

https://data.nbn.org.uk/api/taxonObserv … y=GA000677

runs for so long that my web server times out!

By contrast, the old gateway using SOAP SpeciesListRequest to do a similar 1km radius search around the centre of the same tetrad, still completes in only 9 seconds and also usefully gives the date range for each species and a map, neither of which REST provides.

Gateway 5 is supposed to be faster than Gateway 4 isn't it...?

Re: Species-list performance

We are currently trying to sort out replication issues between the data warehouses and this is causing performance to be very spotty, we hope to have this issue nailed down and resolved as soon as possible, but database replication can be a bit of a black art and it appears we have been using the wrong type of candles with our incantations.

The query you have been supplied for example works absolutely fine right now, I know that is little solace, but we are working as fast as we can to solve the issue.
