Topic: cannot find v6.17.2 standalone download

I have installed SQL Server Express 2008 on my new PC running Windows 7 64-bit and now wish to install standalone Recorder v6.17.2 prior to upgrading to the latest version. However I cannot find it on the Recorder6/info pages where, according to the Installation Guide v4.1, it is located. The JNCC/Recorder pages provide downloadable upgrades to existing instances of Recorder 6 but my original CD is only v6.15.4 and I understand this is not compatible with SQL Server Express 2008, so I cannot use that. Can anyone point me in the right direction for v6.17.2, please?

Thanks Mike.  I shall use your link.  As a matter of interest though, would you oblige me and indicate where on the Recorder6.info website this zip file is located as I still cannot find it there, and if I google it I am directed to the installation guide, not the zip file.

The file is not generally available, because you can only use it if you already have a site id.  New users still have to obtain their copy from an authorised reselleer where they will get their site id.

You just beat to a reply.  To answer my own question, the zip file is available from a link in the installation guide.  The reason I couldn't click on it was because I had printed a paper copy of the guide and was reading from that.  Sorry for being slow-witted.

To finish the story, after an hour of downloading the v6.17.2 files I received a message saying "This page cannot be displayed".  This failure was due, apparently, to a connection problem.  I have now requested a CD.

Dear Mike,
Is downloading the software still an option? The link above gives a 404 error. I have a site id but the cd is kept at my local data centre and I won't be able to go in for a while.

See http://www.recorder6.info/page16.html  Only install 6.17.2 if you specifically need to use SQL Server 2005, otehrwise install 6.23.
