Topic: NBN Gateway 5 update

As many of you are aware, the NBN Gateway version 5 has launched and some of you have been in touch regarding issues that you have encountered in relation to the new site.  Thank you for your feedback which is helping us to respond to and resolve these teething problems.

We would like to stress that these issues have not caused any risk to data security.  They have, however, raised concerns and caused inconvenience for a number of dataset administrators and data users, for which we sincerely apologise.   We are following up directly with those specifically affected.

We have now posted further information on the bugs that have affected the NBN Gateway and the status in resolving these issues on the NBN website.  We are also posting on the ALERC Forum and on social media.

We envisage that the new NBN Gateway will be fully functional on Friday 25th October.

You can read the news article on the NBN website: http://nbn.org.uk/News/Latest-news/NBN- … here!.aspx

We thank you for your patience and support, whilst we overcome these problems.  If you do discover any other issues please let us know by emailing access@nbn.org.uk

Many thanks,
Mandy

Re: NBN Gateway 5 update

Dear Mandy,

I used to use a taxon search facility on the NBN server quite a lot - it WAS available over at:
https://data.nbn.org.uk/nbnexamples/ws- … Search.jsp - however this URL is no longer recognised.  Can you possibly tell me if this facility will be made available again under the 'new' Gateway version and if so what the URL is/will be.  I sincerely hope this facility will be available as I found it so useful and helpful in tracking species and synonyms down.

Whilst I am on; when accessing the Gateway (https://data.nbn.org.uk/) today (29th October 2013) I am getting the following message banner across the top of the page:

"The NBN Gateway is currently being updated to resolve a number of issues. During this period you may experience problems when the using the site, including registration, logging in, requesting enhanced access and downloading records. We apologise for the inconvenience this might cause but this will be resolved as soon as possible. The previous version of the NBN Gateway is no longer being updated but can still be accessed here.

We are additionally experiencing intermittent issues with mapping, please bear with us.".

Can you tell me or give some indication as to when the Gateway may be back in operation ??

Cheers and thanks.

Steve
