Topic: Unable to run 6.18 upgrade on server

Hello,

Attempted to run recorderupgrade.exe on the server to upgrade from version 6.17.2.251 to version 6.18 and immediately got this message- "Recorder is not correctly installed on this machine. Upgrade cannot proceed."

The server in Windows 2003 SP2 the database is SQL Express 2005 and I am using an admin account.

For the avoidance of doubt, it is installed on the server and I've got two users using it. I ran through a re-installation of the application files on the server and tried again but with no success.

Interestingly Recorder6 does not show up in add remove programs and I wonder if it should.

Cheers

Dave

Re: Unable to run 6.18 upgrade on server

Hi Dave

This is the message I had when I didn't have the right SQL Server permissions last week. The ICT chap then ran it and it worked fine as he had the correct permissions. Not sure if that's the reason and I'm not sure what level of permission is required.

Re: Unable to run 6.18 upgrade on server

Hi Graham
Thanks for responding.
Unfortunately for all concerned, I am the ICT chap in this instance and I have full admin rights to server and database.  I’m now picking through the Network Installation Guide 5.1 to see if I missed anything with the original install.

Re: Unable to run 6.18 upgrade on server

Just realised what I was doing wrong.  I was trying to run the upgrade on the server when I should have been running the upgrade from my PC.  It seems obvious now.  I am almost tempted to add a smily face, almost.
