A limiting factor affecting the development of the NBN, and hence on the wider availability of biodiversity information to the public and others is the technical problem of preparing data in suitable formats for use, and for delivery through the NBN Gateway. This is, primarily, a task for the data owners, but they often require assistance either in terms of technical skills or simply additional resources. This is currently provided by the current NBN Technical Liaison Officer. However, as the NBN has grown it needs to expand this area of its business to meet the current demand. To address this, the NBN Trust are funding an additional Technical Liaison post that will be hosted at JNCC in Peterborough.
