Topic: Problem with people database

We have found an odd bug in the people database.  We added the Devon Wildlife Trust membership number (member A123456) to the general comments field in the biography tab of the people database.  When we added a new person ('Mr Smith') this membership number attached itself to the comments field of the new entry - it appears in front of the comments that were added when the entry was created, and cannot be deleted.

We assumed that it would go away if we shut down Recorder and re-started, but it hasn't.  If we look at this entry, then look at any other entry in the people database, the biography tab shows the entry for Mr Smith, not the correct one.  The only was to make it show the correct entry is to close the people window and reopen it.

We deleted Mr Smith's entry and re-entered it.  My colleague found that when she tried to re-enter it the biography tab was showing the comments from the entry that we had just deleted.  However, when I entered it on my computer it was fine.

We have had a similar problem in the past with DWT membership numbers, though that resolved itself when Recorder was shut down and re-started.  What is Recorder objecting to?

Re: Problem with people database

Strange thing to happen. Unfortunately I haven't been able to duplicate it, but have logged it as fault for further investigation. Next stage will be for John van Breda to take a look at the code to see if there is an obvious problem
