Topic: Recorder 6 via Citrix accessing SQL on another server

We've been asked to install Recorder 6 in the following environment.

Client installed on a Citrix Xenapp5 Windows 2008 server
SQL DB hosted on a instance on another server

We've have various attempts at running both the network and standalone but never managed to get the install to complete successfully.  We'd managed to cobble together a solution that allowed the app to run (without mapping) locally on the server but never managed to get it to run via Citrix.

After a year or trying various debug versions of the installer our reseller has finally come back with

"it's clearly a quirk in the way the Citrix installation you want to publish on has been configured, I suggest you ask your local Systems people to log the installation to find out where the glitch is located. Failing that you should consider other less troublesome options."

So since I've seen numerous people on this forum saying that they've got it running on Citrix my question is how ?

We've got 100's of other apps running and have been using Citrix for nearly 10 years so it's not like we are new at this.

Re: Recorder 6 via Citrix accessing SQL on another server

Hi,

The IT Team at the National Trust for Scotland did manage to get Recorder 6 running on Citrix, but with a few on-going glitches and we would frequently run into problems.  I had minimal input during the months that they struggled with the installation, and I have no technical experience of Citrix, so unfortunately I cannot cast any light on the solution.  However, one piece of advice that I was given by a Microsoft Terminal Services user, is to share a stand-alone installation if you can.  The benefit of this is a reduction in errors caused by access authorities within a corporate IT network.

Good luck with it.

Hi
Would you be able to post some more details as to what errors you are getting when installing on Citrix please?
Best wishes
