Topic: Error Detailed Species Report

When I try to run the Detailed Species Report or the Detailed Species report V06-12 for against a person, I achieve the following error:

There is an error in the SQL code. The error message is "String or binary data would be truncated"

Re: Error Detailed Species Report

These report no longer exist in the same format in the current versions, so I am having trouble working out what may be going on here. Can you please let me know how exactly you are running this report . (ie which menu is it being run from etc.)

Re: Error Detailed Species Report

From the Name & Address screen, right click on a name for Quick Reports, Species Reports

What I really wanted to do, was to find all entries where this person was a Recorder or Determiner

Re: Error Detailed Species Report

I suspect the best bet is to start again with this one. Can you let me know which fields you want to include in he output and I will do a new report. I suspect the orginal report was dropped, because of some problewm with it.

Re: Error Detailed Species Report

Given the way that Recorder works, probably need two reports, the first for the Recorders, and the second for the Taxon Determiner.

Event Date, Event Location, Event Spatial Reference, Recorders Role
Sample Date, Sample Location, Sample Spatial Reference, Taxon Latin Name, Determiner Role

Re: Error Detailed Species Report

Apologies if you already know this, and it isn't any use, but I'd thought I'd mention just in case: you can use the 'related data' button to bring out occurrences where a person is a recorder or (if I remember correctly) determiner.

Re: Error Detailed Species Report

I have had a go at a single report which picks up anything where the person selected is either one of the recorders or  the determiner. If they are the a recorder only and not the determiner for a record then determiner role should be blank . If they are the determiner only then recorder role will be blank. The report should run Ok and I have tested it, but down to you to check that it is doing what you require. Let me know if it needs revising.

To install, make sure R6 is close then copy the file into the reports folder of R6. Open R6 and it should appear under local reports as a quick report on an individual.

Re: Error Detailed Species Report

Hi Mike - I thought I would have a go at this so I downloaded the report and copied it into the Reports folder. When I try to run it I get a screen which reads.....

"There is an error in the SQL code. The error message is: 'Invalid object name '#REPORT_OUTPUT'' "

Re: Error Detailed Species Report

This may be because it only runs as a quick report from the Name and Addreses window, by selecting an individual and right clicking to choose the report.  I did it quickly to solve a  specific problem and it needed some tidying up to run from the report menu. The attached version should  work from the report menu.
