Re: Map selector upgrade

I have just received the map selector software upgrade for recorder 6 and after installation at the point where you have to register the product I get the following error message: 'Recorder not properly installed or set-up. Can't find Site ID.' and then it closes down. Any suggestions about what might be wrong wrong with our Recorder set-up?

Re: Map selector upgrade

This usually occurs when the Access database, nbndata.mdb, created when Recorder 6 is installed, isn’t installed properly. Even if it is created, it sometimes doesn’t contain links to all the tables it should. The map tile selector uses nbndata.mdb to find things like the Site ID and to update the mapping tables in the SQL Server database (NBNData_Data.MDF) but if this isn’t installed properly it can’t do what it needs to do, hence the message. nbndata.mdb is in the Database folder in the Recorder 6 folder. The first thing to try is recreating it using the tool that can be downloaded from http://jncc.defra.gov.uk/page-5005 .

Re: Map selector upgrade

But if you regularly use the Access database for other tasks, best make a backup copy of it before attempting to recreate it. We found that the tool Sally refers to destroys the original before attempting to create the new one and for us, it then failed leaving us with no access database.

Re: Map selector upgrade

Hello Sally

After upgrading to Recorder 6.18 I have just bought the 1/50,000 OS maps from NBN.

On installation I got the error message: "Recorder not properly installed....".  So following the posts I downloaded  and ran the "Create Access MDB" tool. This gave me the error message stating "NBN Data could not be found".

However, the original NBNData file had been replaced by the NBNData file from the Systems folder of the "Create Access Database Tool" (my original is 1,606KB the new one is 62KB).

On running the Map installer again (version 2) I'm getting the same message.   I have a stand alone Recorder and am a bit baffled by the Permissions issue - I don't  have a another copy of Recorder so cant use the solution described in http://jncc.defra.gov.uk/default.aspx?page=4981 I dont really understand it anyway.

Is there something I am missing??
