If you try importing the abbreviations, Recorder won't recognise them at first and thus won't match them automatically; however, if you manually match the abbreviations to the species, Recorder (6) will remember your choices which will considerably speed the process in future imports.

Having said this, abbreviations can be quite unreliable as so many of them can apply to various taxa, thus any subsequent automatic matching would need to be carefully checked. So handle with care!
