Re: Recorder 6 on Vista

I have just bought Recorder 6 v6.7.2 and installed it successfully on my PC running Windows XP.
The same programme will not work on my laptop which runs Windows Vista. On starting Recorder I get an error message: EIOeException:[DBNETLIB][Connection Open(Connect()).SQL Server does not exist or access denied.
I understand that this may be because Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine (MSDE) is not be supported on the Microsoft Vista operating system.

Re: Recorder 6 on Vista

Hi Julian,

MSDE is not supported on Vista, but fortunately SQL Express is, and this can be freely downloaded from the Microsoft Website. Recorder will install and run fine against SQL Express, though I believe there may be some issues with the install kit introduced by Vista locking down permissions in a way that Recorder does not expect.

Hope this helps,

Re: Recorder 6 on Vista

I'm not sure that a version that is able to be installed onto SQL Express has been publicly released yet. Could Sarah confirm?

Re: Recorder 6 on Vista

Hi Charles

You're right, unfortunately a version of Recorder 6 which installs against SQL Server 2005 or Express has not been released yet.
The up and coming V6.10 full install CD's will. We will be releasing these approximately 2 weeks after V6.10 is released as an upgrade.

See announcements page for updates on progress.

Best wishes,

Sarah
