Re: Help Files Missing After New Network Installation

We've just had Recorder installed on our Network. The help files are all in the directory but they do not appear when using the Help in Recorder. We just get "Navigation to the webpage was cancelled" in the help pane.

Graham,

The answer this way lies.

You might check the registry entries point to the right help file location.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Dorset Software\Recorder 6\Settings

Their also needs to be a registry entry to allow opening of the CHM files. Follow forum topic above to uncover the text for that.

Matt

Thanks for that. Will have a look and see if that provides the solution. At present the properties in the help pane suggest it is pointing the write way so it looks like the registry file described on the ALERC link might help.

Just to update - the info on the ALERC forum did indeed solve the problem.

Thanks again Matt.

Re: Help Files Missing After New Network Installation

Another solution is to copy the help file - Rec20Hlp.chm in the Help folder in the Recorder 6 folder on the server - to the Recorder folder on the workstation and edit the Help Path in the registry - HKEY_CURRENT_USER - Software - Dorset Software - Recorder 6 - Settings - Help Path. This needs to be done on each workstation.

If you copy Rec20Hlp.chm to the workstation you will be able to open it there if your machine can open .chm files, but not from within Recorder 6 unless you make the changes in the registry. See also Mike Weideli’s post 19/06/09 http://forums.nbn.org.uk/viewtopic.php?pid=4528#p4528 .
