Topic: Dictionary updating

Dictionary Version 10 is now issued. I am on a networked version of Recorder 6 with Dict "Y" installed on our corporate servers. The application files are on one server, and the database is on another. I run R6 from a remote workstation. I am assuming that I cannot update the dictionary from this workstation - is this correct? Can anyone who runs R6 on a network post a reply for me please. I need to advise our IT people how to proceed.

Re: Dictionary updating

I have never had a problem updating the dictionaries from a workstation (although I haven't tried from a remote location), or at least none relating to the location of the files. So long as you can access the folder with the updater in and have the necessary permissions. The last update would not operate from my trusted windows login but had to be run usuing the sa login. The only other problems we have had relate to the fact that our db is running under SQL sever 2000 and some of the scripts failed as a result.
I imagine your IT people will be able to run the updater using the sa login themselves, it should be straightforward.
