Re: Dictionary upgrade - import rejects

Ive just had to do a re installlation of Rec6.

Upon upgrading the dictionary - I get a steadily increasing 'import reject' file - up to 19mb of errors.
This cant be right.
There cant be 19mb of rejected taxon instances.

Is this because I tried to jump from V6.8.1 to 6.9.2 in a oner?

Can I wind this back?
Or is it a matter of starting again and doing a stepwise upgrade?

Re: Dictionary upgrade - import rejects

Are the version numbers you mention correct? Only 2 versions of the installation CD have gone on general release: version 6.6.8 and 6.7.2a (standalone and network). These install versions 6.6.8.59 and 6.7.2.77 respectively.

If you have a 6.6.8 CD you should install using that then upgrade to 6.7.2.77 then upgrade to 6.9.3.102. If you don’t do the 6.7.2.77 upgrade your system will be missing the 18 lists in the taxon dictionary that are added by that upgrade.

If you have a 6.7.2a CD you should install using that then upgrade to 6.9.3.102.

JNCC produced a version of the 6.9.3 upgrade that was designed to upgrade from any version to 6.9.3.102 but it caused problems and had to be withdrawn. In her post on 13/02/07 (http://forums.nbn.org.uk/viewtopic.php?pid=1335#p1335) Sarah Shaw said JNCC were planning to make installation CDs available for the next release at the end of April but installation CDs are not available for 6.9.3.

In these circumstances I think it is safest to uninstall and re-install but please note that sometimes uninstalling removes the user added files that the installation guides say ‘are deliberately left behind’, so back up anything you want to keep beforehand.
