Re: Update spatial ref
Hello,
is there an easy way to update the XY of related events and samples when changing the spatial ref of a location in the location hierarchy?
Thank you.

You would need batch update, but exactky how it woudl work depnds on how you manage your data. For example it would be possible to get the batch update to bring the survey events and samples) into line with Location for every entry in the database, where the spatial reference qualifier is of a specific spatial_reference type ( eg site centroid). Alternatively you could just apply the batch update to a selected Location . The Batch Update would need to check that the new Spatial reference was with the bounding box of the Survey.
I can advise further and/or provide an example, but would need to understand a little more about how you would like it to work.
Hi Mike,
Thank you for replying. I just noticed that Recorder asks if related data have to be updated when changing the coordinates of the source location. When confirmed, survey events and locations are updated, so that actually solves my problem. I do wonder if this update is restricted to observations with the same spatial qualifier? If not, some unexpected things may happen. Seems rather tricky...

Yes that does happen. The change is applied if the Even/sample spatial reference is the same as that of the Location before the change was made. It doesn't take into account the Spatial Reference qualifier which can result in changes being applied where they are not required. The advantage of a Batch Update is that it can be more selective and be designed for the way spatial references are being used.
