Bit of an odd problem that we've had for a while...

We can't access help within R6. When we do the contents menu is displayed  but the main pane just says 'Navigation to the webpage was cancelled'.

We can open the R:\Help\REC20HLP.CHM manually from the server and it also works fine if coppied locally. It's just within R6 that it fails.

Anyone any ideas? Sounds like some link is broken or some security setting needs tweaking??

We had the same problem initially. It was fixed as follows. This works in Windows XP, but might need changing for other OS.

Create a text file containing the following



Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\HTMLHelp\1.x\ItssRestrictions] "MaxAllowedZone"=dword:00000001

Save this file with a .reg extension (e.g. as HelpFix.reg) the double-click the file to add the changes to the windows registry.

Of course it may be a good idea to back up the registry first and if you're not confident messing around in there, get help from someone who is.

Thanks Rob - that has worked to allow us to at least read help files. We can now access the R6 help file directly or coppied to desktop.

Still not working within the program. This must be a diffent issue but I can't get my head round why this might be happeing. No big deal though...

Steve,

Recheck the Registry entry (usual Registry disclaimer applies) to make sure it has indeed created the appropriate key as Rob suggests. It sounds to me that it hasn't. I did mine manually as the DWORD key wasn't created (the directoey structure was created) and it works fine - Windows 7 (64-bit).
