Can you let me know if you want to keep any of your Locations. If not I can providea batch update which will remove them from the Sample and Survey Events and put the name into the Location Name field. It will then remove all your locations from the system. If you want to keep some of then this is going to be a bit more complicated

A very difficult  question to answer as this varies considerably. Some users consider Locations to be very important and will allocate all records to a location. Others  never use  them , and rely on polygon queries to extract the data. If you do wish to use locations then I suggest you do so sparingly.  Don't create locations unless you have need to report on the Location and don't create a location unless you will be able to identify it for use next time you enter data.  Use them only for sites with clearly defined boundaries.

I will email the batch update direct to you. Have you exported any of your data as if you have you may need to ask whoever has them to make the some changes. Exporting the data again will fix the records, but leave them with the locations which they may wish to delete.
