Re: Delete records imported on specific date

I have recently discovered that I have received data from an individual using the same copy of recorder on 2 separate machines. This means that I have data which has the same IDs but is different. Recorder picked up 'duplicates' which weren't imported, but has imported data which is not in the survey it should be.

I think the easiest way to delete this would be a batch update based on the date it was imported. Is this possible? If so can any let me have such a batch update or advise on writing one?

I am having trouble deleting a survey using the delete survey batch update which is preventing me deleting the data that did create a survey so using the date would hopefully help this too.

Any help gratefully received.

Thanks

As far as nightmares go I can't think of much worse. I feel for you.

Re: Delete records imported on specific date

Recorder doesn't retain the imported date, so this isn't going to help. I think you probably  need to delete all the data importeda and start again. The problems you have deleting the Surveys are probably  caused by the data corruptions which importing this data has caused. As I said in the other post I have a batch update which will delete the Surveys even where this corruption occurs and as soon as I find it I will make it available to you.

If you have the original data there would be a way to remove the individual keys, but this will need some specialist help.

To correct the imported data will be difficult as all the keys on one of the systems need to be changed which would not be something easy to explain.

Re: Delete records imported on specific date

Surely the date of import becomes the ENTRY_DATE field and there are some queries that let you select records on a particular date. Would probably need extra work to exclude other data entered the same day, but ENTRY_DATE is a smalldatetime format and it appears that all records for a single import have the same value (will need checking though)

Re: Delete records imported on specific date

Entry_date is the date the item was added to the copy of Recorder 2000/2 or Recorder 6 that it was first added to. It doesn’t get changed when data exported from a copy of Recorder is imported into another copy of the system so, as Mike says, Recorder doesn't retain the imported date.
