Re: Upgrade to 6.17

Having upgraded our server based Recorder to version 6.17 we are unable to run it on a number of our workstations. Until we can sort out the problems with this upgrade is there an easy way to restore to the previous version or does the upgrade make changes which cannot be reversed?

Andy

Going back might create a different set of problems. The upgrade makes changes to the database and  also to the application so going back means restoring both.

I take it that neither of John's solutions http://forums.nbn.org.uk/viewtopic.php?id=2806 are solving the problem for you ?

Re: Upgrade to 6.17

I have encountered a problem immediately after updating Recorder 6 to version 6.17.1.   from 6.14.  I now cannot run the software - I get a message that an unhandled error has occured; the error report says that "the Import Template Path is missing or incorrect.  Recorder is not installed properly and cannot start".

I had no problems running the earlier version

Re: Upgrade to 6.17

Hi Steve
The new application is detecting that one of your registry settings points to a folder that does not exist. Although it is being more fussy on startup at least it is exposing a problem that ought to be sorted as it means some functionality elsewhere won't work.
Are you comfortable with using the registry editor? If not then I suggest trying to find someone who is before attempting this fix. To fix the problem, open the registry editor and go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Dorset Software\Recorder 6\Settings. You will find there is a key called Import Template Path, which should be pointing to a folder that does not exist. One quick way of fixing this properly is to delete the Import Tempate Path key and then start Recorder, then close it. Press F5 to refresh the registry editor and you should find it now points to the correct place.

Re: Upgrade to 6.17

Hi Steve
I have updated the diagnostic tool I wrote for Recorder to include checking the registry paths are correct and to help you fix them. If you want to try it you can download and unzip the exe from http://forums.nbn.org.uk/uploads.php?file=RecorderSystemCheck%20v1.1.zip

Re: Upgrade to 6.17

Just like to add that this also solved our workstation problem.

Note only clearing the settings keys and restarting without performing an uninstall.
