I would like to add several survey event owners to a survey event, but the + symbol for adding new lines does not appear when I'm going into edit mode (version 6.15.4.238).

I can confirm this with 6.17.1.250 (the remove button is also absent).
This box seems to behave differently to other "individual and orgs" boxes - the search icon appears with the name, rather than with the add/remove buttons (like the survey name when editing tags).
Only one owner is allowed for each Event. Deletion is done by deleting both the owner and the type using the delete key, then saving the entry.

Well thats fine - but that's a shed load of space there just for one entry! The label also pluralizes the owners, suggesting more than one can be added?
And of course, more than one owner should really be allowed for each event just as you have more than one recorder.
The label and help function are indeed misleading in this case. I agree with Charlie that more than one owner should be possible, the data model allows it and when you add several records in the database the application shows them all. We have for example a survey with catching data of exotic geese where the catching events are organized by one organisation assisted by one or more external organisations. I conceived this as an event with several owners. Also tried it with several recorders/recorder roles but the application only accepts individuals as a recorder.

Don't disagee. The underlying table would support mutiple entries. I don't know the history, but looks like this might have been a cost cutting measure when this was implemented. I have added allowing multiple entries to the list of suggested enhancements.
If you put the cursor in the grid then press the down arrow it adds a new row. Clear the values then save to delete the row.
So the feature request is really just to add the buttons back in to make the UI consistent with other screens.
