Hi

I am trying to import records from an xl file and get the following message after pressing next on the first (template) screen

"The data import failed. Please check that the properties are correctly set and that the import file is not empty."

Not sure that I know the difference between correct and incorrect properties, but the file is not empty.

Any ideas?

Closing and restarting recorder seemed to fix it, although I did get an unhandled error on exit. Should have tried that before posting really.

I'm currently here searching for something else but noticed this and wondered if anyone had a solution as i am also getting this problem, sometimes though not always.

It seems to occur for me most often when importing a recently edited .xls

I encountered this error when testing v6.15. I reported it at the time but unfortunately it couldn’t be reproduced consistently enough for the problem to be resolved. I haven’t seen it in the v6.17 testing so, in my experience, it isn’t happening as much as it used to. If anyone can provide details of how to reliably reproduce the problem, perhaps it can be investigated. In the meantime please close and re-open Recorder 6 then try the import again. It usually works as expected after that.

I regularly get the message "The data import failed. Please check that the properties are correctly set and that the import file is not empty." when trying to import spreadsheet files that are on our corporate network. When I move the file(s) to the Desktop on the workstation machine and then run through the Import Wizard the files import successfully.
