Re: Exporting data to NBN exchange format

I'm currently exporting batches of data into the NBN exchange format and have found a strange problem.

When I look at the .txt files for some of the records the date has been changed by one day, so for example a record for the 01/08/1988 has been changed to 02/08/1988.  This doesn't happen on every record just some and otherwise the export appears to have work correctly.

The error happens whether I change the format of the date column to a "date" format or not.

Any ideas?

I think this has cropped up before but I can't find the thread on it ?

Re: Exporting data to NBN exchange format

Hello Suzanne

Yes this has cropped up before. The issue is that Recorder 6 NBN Exchange addin adds an extra day for dates in leap years after Feb 28th eg. your date 01/08/1988 becomes 02/08/1988. I have asked JNCC to look into this and will chase it up again

Best wishes

Has there been any progress on this problem? If not is there some simple way of finding the incremented dates so as to correct them. We are currently trying to use the NBN Record Cleaner to verify our records using NBN Data format output from Recorder as the input.

Re: Exporting data to NBN exchange format

Hello Charlie

No as I far as I am aware the current version of the NBN Exchange Addin (V6.13.2.24) adds an extra day for dates in leap years after Feb 28th. Unfortunately I don't have simple procedure to check for these dates

The issue seems to be to do with one of the additional functions the addin uses (nbn_exchange_date_to_string). I can send the corrections I think need to be done if you are able to update this function yourselves through SQL Server management studio. The changes seems to work OK including days in the leap years but if you do make the changes I would recommend checking it is outputting the correct dates to make sure

Alternatively you could use an XML Report to export the records in the NBN Exchange Format as this doesn't use the above date  function. If this is an option let me know and I will send you one.

Best wishes
