Re: Report Output

I've got my "Filter Result" just how I want it, having written and run an xml query.
Now I want to be able to design and run a "Report Template" to turn that data into a report.
The options I need are greyed out (i.e. "Run report template"); granted, I've not specified a template anywhere yet.
I think I can get around this by selecting "New" (which opens a blank report design form), then "File Open" another template, then closing it (that's counter-intuitive but it's not needed and it finishes up as the top window). The required report is now available to run.
Since the whole object of my report is to provide a labour-saving facility (Local Wildlife Site notification letters to landowners) to an admin assistant, the above sequence tends to defeat the objective.

Questions:
1. Can I specify a template anywhere in my xml so that it comes up as the default template
2. Can we have another template command in that list, "Run", "New" and "Edit" aren't enough, we need an "Open"

Re: Report Output

Darwyn,

You can indeed specify a template to open automatically when you run an XML report. You need to add a template attribute to the CustomReport tag. Here's an example:

<CustomReport title="Survey Metadata" description="Survey Metadata Report for the SMART addin" menupath="SMART" template="SurveyMetadata.tpl">
