Previous exports of data from within a polygon have been successful but my last attempt failed. At the stage of "Gathering information for export" the system stalled when reaching "Reference author". The following message was obtained on closing the report "Operation cannot be performed while executing asynchronously" What need I do to avoid this problem?
We haven't seen this problem before. Does the same thing happen when you try again. Can you confirm which version of R6 you are on please.
R6 version 6.15.4 Just moved to dictionary version N. I have repeated the exercise several times without success. I have been successful exporting a specific survey.
I don't think we will be able to sort this without having access to your data. If you can send a copy of your latest backup either on Cd or memory stick then I can take a look.

I have received the CD and have your database loaded. I can't see anything immediately wrong, and need to try and duplicate, at least approximately what you were trying. I don''t need the actual polygon , bu t could you give me the approx grid refs (Eastings and Northings) for the SW and NE corners of a square which would encompass the polygon. If you identify the points approximately you should be able to get the Eastings and Northing from the bottom left hand corner of the Map window.
Thanks Mike for letting me know of the safe arrival of the disc. The SW and NE co-ordinates are as follows:
SW SK 133 782
NE SE 453 007
These GR's enclose the boundary for the Sheffield Metropolitan District
One further piece of information that might help. My first attempt was successful but I did not export because there were two instances where the GR of the records were outside the GR's of the Sites. It was on the re-run after expanding the geographical limits of the Site that the problem arose. Harold

I can't get the error message, but Recorder is hanging at Reference Author when I try to export your data. Upgrading to 6.16.2 solved the problem for me. Could you give you this a try.

If I upgrade to 6.16.2 will I have a problem in exporting survey records to organisations that are running 6.15.4 or lower?

Upgrading will not cause any problem with exporting to 6.15 users. No changes were made to the database structure in 6.16. The only change was to the export process which was reviewed and speeded up. This is why I hope that it will solve your problems.

Yes, upgrading has solved the problem but it is interesting that no one else has met this problem. Not everyone is running R6.16. Anyway thanks for your help. Harold
