Re: Corruption fear... how to proceed?

Given my previous corruption problems!

I was happily importing records, when one set gave me:

exception class   : EDBMergerError
exception message : Error occurred transferring records for SQLSERVER_TAXON_OCCURRENCE into the main database.

I then tested the export to see if there wa a problem and got:

exception class   : EOleException
exception message : Cannot alter table '#TAXON_OCCURRENCE' because this table does not exist in database 'NBNData'.

Subsequent testing gave me varied results with some exports crashing with:

exception class   : EOleException
exception message : List index out of bounds (0).

Granted this error is on the larger surveys. Smaller exports seem to work.

I have a back up from 6 days ago and can try and rescue the records entered between then and now and then do a restore.

But Id like to hear whether the above errors sound menacing or a 'not too worry - plod on'.

Any thoughts?

Re: Corruption fear... how to proceed?

A quick question Matt, before testing the exports, had you restarted Recorder? The cannot alter table message might be a throwback to the previous error on import. It would be interesting to know if the export errors are still happening today.

Re: Corruption fear... how to proceed?

Ive been doing some exports this morning which seem to be working fine - up to 20000 records so far.
Surveys with 48000 and above would seem to be crashing with the error -  'List index out of bounds'.

I removed the validation addin and was able to export a 62000 survey.

So this is the known problem of the validation addin.

From which I  surmise that yesterdays hiatus hasn't done anything severe as feared.

We shall, therefore, press on.

The oddity from yesterday is the crash mid import... We shall try again and see what happens.

And just to answer the first point - I hadnt restarted recorder at the time of the 'lost table' error.
Thanks for listening.

Sally

Noted, thank you.

I have corrected some biotope errors - yet to test the export again!
