Re: Data Tables

Just thought this might be of interest:

http://datatables.net/

Looks like it might be handy for the reporting components. The "Ajax auto loading of data" feature sounds like it might be just the ticket for browsing large datasets.

Re: Data Tables

Good heads up  Charles. I've been looking for a data table like that for intranet use.

Cheers.

Re: Data Tables

Thanks, Charles. We looked at things like this (and a similar plugin called tablesorter - http://tablesorter.com/docs/) both when we were building a grid into the core module and when we were building the client side data grid through the data services. The main problem with them is that they're both purely client side solutions - the ajax auto-loading loads data into the grid, but the client has to have it first. With the sorts of large datasets in Indicia we wanted something that would fetch data on the fly rather than trying to grab it all.

For the reporting, however, this looks like the sensible way to go. From what I can tell, tablesorter looks prettier, but lacks the search function of datatables. So probably I will steal the css from tablesorter and use it with the datatables plugin.
