Re: Records of absence

Has anyone come up with a way of recording absence in R6? We have a lot of records in our database for lichen populations that are known to have been lost, or at least have not be refound on recent visits, and need to record that information in the database. At the moment we just add a comment to the last record of presence but there must be a better way.

Re: Records of absence

Hi Janet,
The best way is to specify a count of zero in the taxon occurrence's measurements for the abundance. Then the occurrence will be automatically flagged as a zero abundance occurrence.

And as such zero abundance records will not appear in Report Wizard reports by default (you can get them to appear if you go into additional constraints and tick zero abundance). There is a zero_abundance column in the taxon_occurrence table that is set to 1 (for TRUE) when you enter 0 as the abundance value.
