Re: R6 and Vista advice

Hello.  I am new to this forum, and am about to upgrade from R2002 to R6 under Vista.  I am following Michael Weideli's advice of Jan 2008, and have just downloaded (but not installed) SQL Server Express and the SQL Server Management Studio Express.  The download instructions for the latter state that it requires MSXML 6.0 to be installed (from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=993c0bcf-3bcf-4009-be21-27e85e1857b1&displaylang=en).  That program is not mentioned in the advice.

Before I go further, does anyone have advice on using MSXML6, and which of the 4 download options is appropriate (if any). There is a route through the MS Knowledge Base, but if someone has invented this particular wheel I would be grateful for that shortcut.

Re: R6 and Vista advice

Hi Murdo, welcome to the forum.

It's the msxml6.msi file you need to download. You don't need to 'use' it as such; you just need to have it installed.

Hope that's of some help.

Thanks, Charles.  Very helpful, and I am now ready for R6 to arrive.
