Re: Revised version of delete survey addin available

I have just uploaded a new version of the delete survey addin (V6.0.029). It is available through the normal addins page here:
http://forums.nbn.org.uk/recorderWebsite/Addins.htm
The lstest version fixes a couple of minor bugs with the last version where it would not work with MSDE and expected a C:\temp directory to exist on the machine where it was being run from.

Re: Revised version of delete survey addin available

I'm still getting the invalid filename error. I initially thought that I hadn't installed the new version correctly, but it's just the version number in the about dialog that hasn't been updated:

Allows a Survey to be deleted, complete with any survey events, samples and observations it contains.  Version 6.0.0.23 of 21/10/2008.

The date has been updated, though. The version number and the date in the readme also needs updating.

Here's the error I get:

Charles
Can you try downloading again. I havent changed anything but I already changed the readme. I have just tried downloading again here and am deifnitely getting the right file and readme. It would be worth checking the version of the OCX (right click on the file and go to version - should be 6.0.0.29 if it is the right file).

Re: Revised version of delete survey addin available

OK, I'm making progress. I cleared off every trace I had of the old add-in, re-downloaded and re-installed, and it's looking like it has suceeded - the correct version and date is showing in the about box now. However, when I try to delete a survey now it processes for a few seconds (I'm only trying to delete a very small survey with one occurrence in it) then comes back with a warning dialog that says "Failed to delete survey!" which is indeed correct - the survey isn't deleted.

Re: Revised version of delete survey addin available

Update: I've just tried again now that everyone has gone home and I am the only one logged into Recorder and I am still getting the "Failed to delete survey" error.

Re: Revised version of delete survey addin available

Have you tried Mike Weideli's XML batch updates for deleting things? Use Tools - Run Batch Updates then navigate to 'Del5 Deletes down from a level' in JNCC - Delete Records. This can also be run by selecting an item in the observation hierarchy, right clicking and selecting Batch Updates, etc. Don't forget to take a backup first.

Re: Revised version of delete survey addin available

The Batch Updates which delete Surveys don't work with SQL Server Express. They need the  COLLATE SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS  added to character fields in the CREATE TABLE statements. I can provide updated versions if required. Otherwise I know a number of users who have tried them and they seem to work.
