Upgrade 000000052  is now available from http://www.recorder6.info/page47.html  Please read this page carefully and in particular note the requirements for running the update which is in the new format and which will not work with the old dictionary update software.  These are designed to be run from within Recorder 6 (after version 6.29).  Note that you will require a licence key to access these updates see https://forums.nbn.org.uk/viewtopic.php?id=7472


If you have run the new upgrade before and know how it works then you can go directly to the files at  http://www.recorder6.info/page50.html

Each upgrade needs to be run separately.

Dictionary Upgrade 00000052 incortporates recent changes made by JNCC to the species designations and brings Recorder 6 into line with the UKSI at 18 May 2022.

Hi Mike. I have updated to 000000052 and have run Dic2 XML report all tallies except for Taxon - I am getting the same result as for Taxon_Version i.e. 325004. You say that Taxon can report some minor differences to the stated result but I just wanted to check that this was within tolerance. Thanks

Hi

My apologies for the delay in replying. It has taken a while to track this down. It appears to be due to some entries in the Taxon table not being marked system supplied data when they are in fact system supplied. I think this goes back to the very early days of R6. This is of no consequence in the normal operation of R6 or in accessing the dictionary and does not indicate a wider dictionary issue.  My intention is to fix this in the next dictionary update, but the difference can be ignored for the moment.

Hi Mike,

The update ran without error but the numbers from the Dic2 report are reading differently to your numbers.

Is this the same issue that Bob has referred to, in which case I can ignore it?

My Dic2 report reads:

Taxon_List = 249
Taxon = 318933
Taxon_Version = 325004
Taxon_List_Item = 738983
Organism = 122223

My Dic2 reports:
Taxon_List = 248
Taxon = 325004
Taxon_Version = 325004
Taxon_List_Item = 737821
Organism = 122223
So the only discrepancy from what it should report is the Taxon records. You appear to be out on Taxon_List and Taxon_List_Item as well.

Yes that's what I thought. It's strange because our dictionary has already been reset manually by Mike in the past 2 years so I'm wondering what it is that is going wrong with our copy.
