Topic: R6 and Windows11

I am shortly to invest in a new laptop. This may well have Windows 11 installed. Anyone know at this stage whether there are any issues with R6 and Windows 11? Anyone know which would be the best version of SQL Server Express to install - 2017?? I've been following Charlie Barnes' experiences with R6 and SQL 2019.......

Re: R6 and Windows11

I've not tested it extensively (only for a few hours) but Recorder 6, so far, has been fine on Windows 11 (barring SQL Server 2019 issues of course!!).

Thanks Charlie - do you reckon SQL 2017 is the best version to go for?

Re: R6 and Windows11

Have recently bought a new laptop with Windows 11 installed.

Can anyone answer the following questions??

I now need to decide on the SQL edition and I'm going for SQL 2017 Express. The link for this from the MS website is:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downloa … x?id=55994

Can anyone tell me if this is the link to the correct file before I download and attempt an install?

What about Tools - does anyone know if this is included in the download from the above link?

What about NET framework 3.5 - is this still a requirement?

There is a document in the Recorder website entitled "Installing Recorder 6 on a Windows 10 - 64bit PC" - are these instructions still relevant when installing SQL 2017 Express? This document is dated July 2015.

Any guidance much appreciated........
