Thank you for your suggested improvement to provide an indication that the menu item has been clicked in the spatial portal dropdown menu; I have added it to the list of suggestions and issues that users have submitted to us.  Unfortunately we are not planning on making any enhancements to the spatial portal in the near future, as our current work plan is focussed on the records and regions portals of the Atlas at the moment, but all comments we have received will be reviewed when we do start planning work on the spatial portal.

If however you start to find the speed of access to the Add species dialogue box regularly slows down significantly please do post another comment as it is helpful for us to know when this happens.  Sometimes other data processing activity in the Atlas can have an effect on performance elsewhere.
