LERC Wales is seeking a developer to work on Aderyn, the LERC Wales Biodiversity Information Reporting Database. The post will be based in the SEWBReC office in Talbot Green, south Wales. Please share with any suitable candidates.

Starting salary £30,756 pro rata

Fixed term contract (initially six months).

Based at SEWBReC, Talbot Green, Pontyclun, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales.

Wales is the first and only nation in the UK to have a full network of Local Environmental Records Centres (LERCs). Since 2007 the four Welsh LERCs have worked closely and collaboratively and in 2015 a not-for-profit consortium company, Local Environmental Records Centres Wales Limited (LERC Wales) was formed with a key aim of delivering seamless Wales-wide biodiversity data services to our local and national data suppliers and users.

LERC Wales now has a shared, standardised database of over 11 million wildlife records has been created which may be accessed by the public and our partners via Aderyn – the LERC Wales Biodiversity Information Reporting Database.  Aderyn has ensured that Wales is at the forefront in the UK in the field of local biodiversity information provision. For further information on Aderyn see aderyn.lercwales.org.uk.

We are now seeking an experienced, motivated and creative PHP developer to assist in driving forward the further development of Aderyn, as well as to improve its performance and resilience. The successful candidate will be a key part of our small development team (the lead Aderyn developer is based at BIS in Brecon) and will need to be well organised, a good decision maker and an excellent communicator who produces well-commented code. You will need to be able to take ideas from conception though to deployment, as well as refactoring and improving existing code.

Apply via our listing on CV Library or request further details via recruitment@sewbrec.org.uk

Application deadline is 6th February 2019 at 12 noon

South East Wales Biodiversity Records Centre (SEWBReC) will be the hosting and employing organisation for this post.
