Re: Delete a boundary

How do I do this.
(I don't mean "delete the boundary" in the sense of deleting the boundary polygon but in the sense of the new Recorder Help file which uses "delete a boundary" to mean "remove the link between the location and the boundary" - confused already?)

I follow the instructions in the new Help file's "Location boundaries page" page "To delete a boundary" and still the polygon remains linked to the (incorrect) Location .
The "Boundaries" tab now has no entries because I've deleted it, yet the polygon in the Map Window persists in displaying that named Location and in picking it out when one uses the "Associated Locations" button so that I am unable to correct the error.

The facility to "unlink" a polygon in this way is a fundamental one, it would appear that the information displayed on the Boundaries tab is cosmetic rather than actually functional (my posting of yesterday suggests that it isn't possible to add a boundary either)

The Help file is extremely confusing and lacking in clarity on this issue.

Re: Delete a boundary

This persists in 6.13
According to the release notes (17384) the developers "can no longer reproduce any issues with the linking of locations to boundaries via the Locations window."
But I have such a Location which is linked to a polygon (on clicking Associated Locations on the map I am always taken to this incorrect Location no matter what I do)
On selecting Edit and Boundaries for this Location I am unable to edit or delete the single entry which has no data in the From, To or Version fields, a MapFile of "(None)" and an Object ID of "-1"

Re: Delete a boundary

Hi Darwyn.
Have you experienced this with any new polygons?  Or is it just the one anomaly?
The linking data is stored within a map file as well as in the database, it appears that the two have got out of sync.  This should no longer occur in 6.13, but any broken links from  earlier versions wont be rectified.

Short of deleting the polygon and trying again you can try the workaround as described at the bottom of the post in:  http://forums.nbn.org.uk/viewtopic.php?id=691  (instead of using Admin Area tables use the corresponding Location tables).

It would mean opening up a map file (.gdb) with a Hexcidecimal Editor, then replacing a location key with another or specifying spaces instead.  Please ensure to take a backup of the gdb file first though.

Let me know if you need more details on what to do,

Kind Regards
