Topic: Past and future records

There are a number of records on the Atlas with dates that are seemingly improbable (past) or impossible (future):

(year followed by the number of records)

115    105
201    1
999    225
1000    697
....
2018    1
2019    1
2021    2
2022    1
2025    1
2027    1
2030    1
2031    1
2033    2
2034    20
2035    3
2036    29
2037    46
9999    2067

I haven't looked into all of these but here some observations:
- records with a date of '1000' mostly appear in the Balfour Browne water beetle dataset and I am guessing they use '1000' to mean 'Unknown'
- ditto for records with a date of '9999' from the Standing Waters Database - Scotland
- one record (1d703382-95b1-4103-b8ec-0b0ec09ee78a) I looked at had supplied the Event date end as 19/06/1927, the Event Date as 19/06/27, Date precision as Day and it's come out on the Atlas as Event date start 2027-06-19 and Event date end as 19/06/1927
- one record (a4686257-67e4-4553-8b15-1f95d6b188e4) I looked at appeared to supply no date information (blank fields for Date precision, year, month) but this is being shown as Record date Year:2031 Month:08 Day: ""

Re: Past and future records

Hi Charlie,
Thanks for these... most of them I knew about. There are a couple of datasets that need to be checked and reuploaded. I think that the future dates (2018 - 2037) are my fault when formatting the data. I knew that I hadn't caught them all and I have a process in place to catch them now.

The last one is strange. It's newly updated dataset formatted in DwC, with a eventDate as 1931-08-01.. I don't understand what happened there. I will log it now.

Thanks, Sophie
