Topic: Records for defined areas

I have been looking for the best way to download sets of records for our vice-county according to taxa. As vice-counties are not included in the list of pre-defined areas on NBN Atlas Scotland I was faced with the problem of trying to use the record filters to sort the records from a spatial search. This was not very successful.

I have now discovered that on NBN Atlas the pre-defined areas includes LERC boundaries and this search offers the facility to split the records according to taxon. Problem resolved.

I can understand why the regional atlases include designated areas (SPAs, SSSIs etc) but it would be useful to add LERC boundaries and/or vice counties to the list. Perhaps this could be added to the "wish list".

Many thanks

Christine

Re: Records for defined areas

It is possible to filter records according to vice-county but I'm not sure how this is generated/how accurate this is - I assume this is done by the Atlas? But some (7,756,282) records don't appear to have a vice-county assigned.

E.g. all Cantharidae for South Aberdeen: https://scotland-records.nbnatlas.org/o … berdeen%22

Re: Records for defined areas

Thanks Charlie, yes, you can filter records by vice-county. It looks like there is a problem with the index that assigns the vice counties, new and updated records are missing their vice-county. I will ask for the index to be re-run.

Thanks, Sophie
