Hello

Could someone Please help with the below problem

I have been given the task of upgrading Recorder 668 to the recent 672 upgrade. After running the "RecorderUpgrade.exe", selecting "Use My NT Account" I get the following error message:

Error occurred running script 0000002J-00000004.sqluk. The error is described as:
The conversion of char data type to smalldatetime data type resulted in an out-of-range smalldatetime value.

Does anyone know why I am receiving this message and how I can go about fixing it???

Sounds like a permsissions error. We've encountered it before but can't find specifically where just yet.

How are you doing the upgrade: via worksdation or server?
What are your permissions for said workstation, server and network?

Hello Rob

I am doing the upgrade via a workstation. It could all be a permissions based problem, however I do have admin permissions for just about everything (work within I.T. at Dorset County Council). I have also done this upgrade via the "sa" logon (SQL Server Account) with the same result.

I will check into the permissions thing more, if you can remember in the meantime what causes it please reply.

Ok, have searched for it in our error logs & found that it related to Bulk map loading. However instead of the script error you got , we got EOleException in both cases.

If you read this thread here: http://forums.nbn.org.uk/viewtopic.php?id=17 there are more similarities with what you are experiencing. You could try your reseller as well, of course.

Hi Andy,

The script "0000002J-00000004.sqluk" is one of the dictionary update files that are produced by the JNCC. There were some dictionary issues with the original release of 6.7.2. So it will be worth checking the download area for the latest version.

I have also emailed a link to this thread to JNCC, so if this is a new issue, they should be aware of it now.

I have had a look at this and find any reason why it wont work. I have deleted all the entries from my version and rerun each part of the script individually and all seems to work fine. As Sam suggests I would make sure you have the most recent copy from the download area of the Recorder site. If that still doesnt work you could try running the script step by step through query analyser. I assume there is no setting anywhere that can alter the syntax for dates in a SQL insert statement?

Steve,

The server locale settings will affect the date handling, but the way you have coded the dates in this script (yyyy-mm-dd) should normally work no matter what the server locale.

This is a problem we had/have: our database is set to a different locale to the server. I'll have a go a removing the values from our db and re-run the script to see what happens. I have a sneaking suspicion this failed for us too, but because I ended up installing manually, I think I managed to bypass it.

I'm not in the office today, so I'll have a go tomorrow.

I ran the SQL scripts one-by-one in SSMS (SQL Server Management Studio), fixing any problems as they arose.
