Topic: New suite of open source GIS tools

Over the last few years a number of LERCs in the south east have independently commissioned and funded the development of a suite of four GIS tools that assist LERC staff with typical (and often repetitive) spatial tasks and queries:

  • DataBuffer Tool

  • DataExtractor Tool

  • DataSearches Tool

  • DataSelector Tool

These tools are all open source and highly configurable, and all four are compatible with MapInfo.  ArcGIS versions of two of the tools have also already been developed (and the other two can be done quickly if there is demand).  Versions for QGIS can also be developed if required.

An overview of each of the tools can be downloaded from DropBox at
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/lmkapeh8e2ux … EyvPa?dl=0.

User guides for all the tools are also available online and in PDF format on ReadTheDocs at:

   https://readthedocs.org/projects/dataex … userguide/
   https://readthedocs.org/projects/datase … userguide/

Should any LERCs be interested in knowing more about these tools, would like a demo of them, or would like to know more about how they can be integrated with other office automation (for example to provide an end-to-end automated data search system), then please let me know by posting a reply or contacting me directly (see my profile for contact details).
