Re: Import from Zipped mdb file fails...

Are there any Lalandii records in the import by any chance? They have an = in the name which causes various problems. If not Lalandii, then are there any other species in there with = in the name?

I think this problem is being fixed in the new version.

Re: Import from Zipped mdb file fails...

Hi Charles,

Thanks for the tip. I've not had chance to scan the data yet as I've been on other tasks, but will do that now.  This is a serious bug, hope it does get fixed in the next version.

Kind Regards.

Re: Import from Zipped mdb file fails...

Hi Charles,

Yep...

Quercus petraea x robur = Q. x rosacea
Carex hostiana x viridula = C. x fulva

Not much I can do about this then. Another set of data which I'll have to spend large amount of time trying to clean up.

Thanks.

Re: Import from Zipped mdb file fails...

Actually, you can do something about it. Just search for names in the dictionary that contain the = sign and replace it with a different unique character. I used the tilde I think: ~. Then once we get the update you can change the character back. It might be simpler to wait, though, seeing as the new version is just days away now.

Hi Charles,

Well yes, if the update is nearly ready I think I'd rather wait. Sound's like a lack of escaping in the underlying SQL or a bug in a parser somewhere. Is the use of the "=" char common practice in taxonomy? Genuinely interested to find out.

Thanks for the pointers Charles.
