Topic: Creating species list for 1km square

Being a total XML 'numpty', I'm looking for a report that will produce a species list for a 1km square, please. Searching the forum produced a report posted by Sally (Rankin) from 2006 in respect of the same query, but this results in a full list of species records for a 1km square and not a species list.

My precise requirements are:

Recommended common name/recommended Latin name/taxon group/recommended taxon sort order/grid reference/date of first record/date of last record.

Of course, I may have missed an existing report that will do the job, in which case I apologise.

Any advice/assistance very much appreciated.

Many thanks,

Paul

Re: Creating species list for 1km square

The attached  report the Taxon in a 1km square, but not the first and last dates. With R6 closed copy it into your reports folder. Open R6 and the report (Sq9) will be in System Supplied\Geographic Area/Location Reports\Grid Square Reports and takes the 1km square as a parameter.

To get the first and last dates will take a bit more work. The first question is always what is meant by first and last date where vague dates are involved. The coding for this then goes from a simple query into something much more involved.

Many thanks for your reply Mike. I 'get' your comments re first and last dates completely; vague dates are a curse in many ways. You implied that there was a report 'for the use of' attached to your message, but I have been unable to locate it.
