Re: Synchronise data between Recorder 6 and Recorder 2002

The Dragonfly Recording Network has a Vice-County Recorder who still uses Recorder 2002.  The national records database has recently been migrated to Recorder 6.  Is there any way to export data from Recorder 6 in order to sysnchronise with a Recorder 2002 database?  It is, of course, important to preserve the record keys to prevent creating duplicate records.

Re: Synchronise data between Recorder 6 and Recorder 2002

Data can be exported from Recorder 6 and imported into Recorder 2002 but to do this you have to use the Export Type of NBN Data.

When exporting data to be imported into another copy of Recorder it is recommended that the Export Type of NBN Access Database (zipped) is used. This method produces a smaller file that exports and imports more quickly. The exception to this is when data is to be exported from Recorder 6 and imported into Recorder 2002. In this case it is necessary to use the Export Type of NBN Data because this option creates an .xml file which copes with the differences in data structure whereas the zipped database option does not.

Be wary of doing very big xml exports as, if I remember correctly, one of the reasons for introducing the NBN Access Database (zipped) Export Type was that big xml exports caused problems.
