Topic: Organism Table

Our version of Recorder has a completely different organism table to a blank version of Recorder - same version, same Dictionary upgrades.

We certainly had some broken sort_orders in our Recorder and after recent upgrades the sort_order contents changed a lot. In the blank version they were completely rewriten. The nearly all start 00070. In our they sometimes start 000107 but others start with 00010H or G or E instead of H. Why is this? Surely they shouldn't be this different. Before the recent changes the blank version was more similar but without the errors.

It looks like they are using completely different lineages.

Re: Organism Table

The lineage is recalculated when the index is rebuilt, so a tiny change in the hierarchy or weightings on the sort order can cause it to look very different. User added taxa can also affect the lineage.  I am not saying there isn't a problem, but  the lineage is not a very good way of looking for problems.  In the light of what you say I will run some checks on the master dictionary to see  if something has gone wrong.

Re: Organism Table

Hi Mike

I'm not sure I understand why they would be so different if two version have exactly the same dictionaries with no user added taxa or why we about 8000 rows which seem to be broken many showing a number followed by 26 zeros and almost 4000 which just have "0" as the sort order.

Re: Organism Table

I agree this doesn't seem right. There should be none with just zero as a sort order. Needs investigating, but need to think about the best approach.
